Why I Started Blogging

When I started blogging at the end of 2014 I was in a really bad place mentally, I had no hobbies or outlet. I was in high school suffering with panic attacks and I felt lost.
I always wanted an outlet for my creativity, my passion in high school was art. I always used to go home and do tons of extra work for it just for the joy of it.
Art was what made me happy in my dark times in high school – it felt like the only thing I was good at because I was never good academically.

Sitting down with my notepad doodling up ideas, planning posts and getting creative has taken my mind away from my bad mental health.
Blogging brings me so much motivation it’s my favourite hobby (along with makeup) and it brings me so much joy.

Between WordPress and the Twitter blogging community I’ve grown, made friends, grown as a person and spent so much time and love on this blog.
It’s a huge creative outlet, from setting up a flat lay to taking pictures and editing them. I just find it so exciting.
People say that ‘blogging is a job’ and talk about how difficult it is, but I don’t feel like that not even 1%. I look forward to doing my blog, looking at the stats and interacting with people.

It’s my first thought when I wake up in the morning and it gets me excited for the day, I don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t discover blogging.

Over the past year I’ve introduced many more lifestyle posts and advice posts – along side beauty posts and I feel like I’m coming into my own and expressing myself well. Hopefully I’m inspiring people too.
In the future I’d love to write more lifestyle posts about multiple topics and incorporate them whilst still writing about beauty too – that’s my main passion.

What made you start blogging?

  1. I started writing to all my nieces and kids on a text string and then expanded to Facebook, which I quickly found to be an inappropriate venue for longer form thoughts and advice. I feel called to reach more people and also to someday be able to transition from the corporate world to doing this thing I am much more passionate about. Lastly, my wife and mother in law and others have always encouraged me to write, but I wasn’t sure I could just sit down and write a book, so I decided to try my hand at blogging and see if my message resonated with anyone outside my family and close friends. 🙂

  2. One: your outfit is beautiful and i am in love with your skirt, no joke. Also, I just recently started blogging because college has given me more panic attacks than I am used to, and I have found myself feeling kind of voiceless. Blogging has helped me feel a little bit more in control. I love your blog!

  3. My blog is only a baby but I have been working on growing the website. Some days I feel discouraged that hardly anyone reads it or seldom leaves comments. I have only been treating my blog like a hobby and maybe that’s why it’s not growing? I’m hoping to create my posts around personal growth and development. Blogging is a great way to escape from the everyday mental clutter. My most depressing days usually trigger me to write and publish posts on the blog.

  4. Ah this was such a nice post to read. I’m so glad you enjoy what you do so much. I just recently started blogging to channel my passions for writing, fashion and photography. It is so nice to have a part of the internet to express yourself on and make your own. I do worry about whether people will visit but I need to remember it is a hobby and something I’ve wanted to do for such a long time. xx

  6. I started blogging when feeling stressed about which career path I may want to lead myself down. I liked photography and writing and clothes and my mom sugggested I combine it all into a blog. I fell in love with the idea and started one a few weeks later. Although I do not intend on blogging as my full career if has allowed me to find what I want in life in terms of a career path. Thanks for sharing your reason girl! :)))

  7. Long story but I quit social media and cut myself off from a lot of people. I am on medication for OCD, Depression and Anxiety. I’ve also struggled with alcohol and food. I started the blog in May 2017 in order to help others in a similar situation. It has just taken off from there.
